Terms of Use

1. The Service

PostalDataPI provides postal code lookup, validation, city search, and metadata endpoints via a REST API. The Service covers 70+ countries and is accessed using an API key.

2. Account and API Keys

• One account per person or organization.
• API keys are confidential. Do not share, publish, or embed them in client-side code.
• You are responsible for all usage under your API key. If you believe your key is compromised, rotate it immediately in your account dashboard.

3. Pricing and Billing

• Each API query costs $0.000028 USD, deducted from your account balance.
• New accounts receive 1,000 free queries. No credit card is required to start.
• Account recharges are processed via Stripe. Minimum recharge is $5.00 USD.
• Recharges are non-refundable once credited to your account balance.
• PostalDataPI reserves the right to adjust pricing with 30 days' notice. Existing account balances will be honored at the rate at which they were purchased.

4. Acceptable Use

You may use the Service for any lawful purpose, including commercial applications. You may NOT:

• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or bulk-download the underlying data.
• Exceed reasonable query volumes designed to degrade service for other users.
• Use the Service for any purpose that violates applicable laws or regulations.
• Resell raw API responses as a competing postal code data service.

5. Rate Limits and Fair Use

PostalDataPI applies rate limits to ensure quality of service. Default limits are generous for normal usage. If your application requires higher limits, contact support.

6. Data Accuracy

PostalDataPI aggregates postal code data from multiple public sources and provides it on an "as-is" basis. While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee that all data is complete, current, or error-free. Do not use this Service as the sole authority for safety-critical or legally binding address validation.

7. Availability

We target high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Scheduled maintenance will be communicated in advance when possible. PostalDataPI is not liable for damages resulting from downtime.

8. Account Termination

PostalDataPI may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may close your account at any time. Unused balances on terminated accounts are non-refundable.

9. Limitation of Liability

PostalDataPI is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. In no event shall PostalDataPI be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service. Total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Privacy

PostalDataPI collects only what is necessary to operate the Service: account credentials (via OAuth), API usage logs, and billing records. We do not sell or share your data with third parties. Postal code queries are logged for billing and abuse prevention; query logs are not tied to end-user identities.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms with 30 days' notice posted at this page. Continued use after the notice period constitutes acceptance.
