When we built PostalDataPI, we designed it to remove annoyances. One flat price. No tiers. Self-serve everything. The same price per query for a soccer mom doing a mail-out and a Fortune 500 logistics operation.

When we thought about partners, we wanted the same philosophy.

Tiering partners by deal size. Making you prove yourself before we quote a rate. Asking you to share the prospect before we commit to a number. All of that would annoy us if we were on your side of the table. So we do not do it.

One offer for everyone who sends us business. Simple on your side. Simple on ours. You bring customers, you get 45% of their spend for life.

Four Steps. That Is the Whole Program.

  1. Apply. Fill in your name, email, and a brief description of how you plan to promote PostalDataPI. We review and approve within 3 business days. We approve partners acting in good faith; we decline obvious spam or fraud applications and tell you why so you can adjust.
  2. Accept and onboard. Accept the Partner Agreement, complete Stripe Connect onboarding (5 minutes of identity verification so we can pay you).
  3. Share your link. You get a unique referral link the moment you're approved. Send it to prospects, add it to your site, put it in your email signature — however you work.
  4. Get paid. Every dollar your referred customers spend with us pays you 45%, monthly via Stripe, on or before the 15th business day of the following month. $50 minimum payout (rolls over until you hit it).

Why 45%. And Why the Same Rate for Every Deal.

Most referral programs tier partners. Big deals get one rate, small deals get another, "contact us for enterprise terms." Every tier is a reason for a partner to hesitate, negotiate, or walk away.

We skipped that.

45% is the rate for every partner, every deal type, every size. A developer signup worth a few dollars a month and a logistics contract worth six figures pay commission at the same percentage. The dollars scale naturally with the revenue — that is the whole point.

If you bring us nothing, we pay nothing. If you bring us something, 45% of it is yours. As long as they remain a customer. Paid monthly.

Attribution Persists. We Mean That.

The moment a customer signs up through your referral link, they are tagged to you in our system. That tag does not come off except for fraud or material breach of the agreement — and even then, honest work already done is preserved.

Nothing we do afterward can change honest attribution. Not a program update. Not a change of terms. Not your going inactive for a while. If you brought the customer, the customer is yours.

We also put it in writing. Read the Partner Agreement before you sign up.

What's NOT in this program.

A lot of partner programs carry baggage. Ours doesn't. Specifically:

  • No tiered commission rates. Same 45% for everyone.
  • No non-disparagement clause. You can criticize our product publicly if you think we got something wrong — and we'll still pay your commissions.
  • No non-compete. Promote our competitors if you want. We trust you to represent us honestly.
  • No exclusivity requirement. Work with as many programs as you like.
  • No performance minimums. Bring one customer or a thousand, same rate.
  • No "contact us for enterprise terms." If you bring us an enterprise deal that becomes custom, you still earn — 45% of the contract's profit, never zero.
  • No forfeiture of your small balances. If we can't reach you, unclaimed balances escheat to the state, where you can always claim them — not to us.
  • No weaponizing your own work. If we ever have to end the partner relationship for cause, commissions you've already earned on real customers are still paid.

This is how we think a partner program should feel.

What happens if my customer becomes an enterprise deal?

Your commission shifts from 45% of revenue to 45% of Contract Profit — the contract's revenue minus the direct costs of fulfilling it (dedicated infrastructure, custom SLAs, etc.). Direct costs are locked at signing with the calculation shown to you in writing. Your commission is never zero on a customer you brought — just tied to real profitability rather than gross revenue.

FAQ

Payment and economics

How are commissions calculated?

45% of Commissionable Revenue — what the customer actually pays us, minus refunds, chargebacks, credits, and taxes. We absorb Stripe's payment processing fees; they don't come out of your share. Paid monthly. $50 minimum rolls over until reached.

What if I don't hit the $50 minimum?

It rolls over to the next month and keeps accumulating. If your attributed customer base winds down and you've got a small balance sitting, you can email us for a one-time quick payout under $50.

What about chargebacks?

If a customer you referred charges back a transaction we already paid you commission on, that commission is clawed back from your reserve first, then your next payout. To protect small partners from catastrophic fraud losses, your total chargeback exposure is capped at 3× your trailing 6-month average monthly commission in any 90-day period. We absorb the excess.

How do I get paid?

Stripe Connect. You complete identity verification at signup and payouts hit your bank on or before the 15th business day of each month.

Attribution

How does attribution work?

Primarily through your unique referral link (postaldatapi.com/register?ref=your-code) with a 60-day cookie. Customers can also manually identify you as their referral source at signup or within 30 days.

What if my prospect signs up without using my ref link?

They can email partners@postaldatapi.com within 30 days of signup identifying you as their source. We confirm with both of you in writing. We don't accept partner- initiated manual claims — the customer must be the one who tells us.

Can you change the rate after I sign up?

Not for customers you have already brought. The 45% rate is locked for the life of every customer tagged to you at the time of their attribution. If we update the program for new signups later, existing relationships keep their original terms.

Dashboard and visibility

What will I see in my dashboard?

Aggregate totals (total commission earned, attributed customer count, total Commissionable Revenue), per-campaign conversion data (which of your marketing channels drove signups), month-over-month trend charts, and your payout and reserve history. Updates daily within 24 hours of transactions settling.

Will I see individual customer names or spend?

No. For privacy and competitive reasons, the dashboard aggregates your attributed customers. If you suspect a commission-calculation error, the audit right in the Partner Agreement lets you verify once per 12-month period.

Marketing and promotion

Can I bid on "PostalDataPI" as a Google Ads keyword?

No. You can bid on generic category keywords ("postal code API," "zip code lookup," etc.) but not our brand name or variations. This keeps brand traffic flowing organically to us and protects partners from outbidding each other.

Can I criticize PostalDataPI publicly?

Yes. Public criticism of our product, pricing, or decisions is explicitly protected in the agreement — it's not bad-faith conduct and won't trigger termination. We want honest partners.

Can I work with your competitors?

Yes. No exclusivity. We trust you to represent us honestly while doing whatever other work makes sense for you.

Legal and administrative

Is there an application review?

Yes. We approve real humans with real promotion plans within 3 business days. We decline obvious spam or fraud applications, and we'll tell you why so you can adjust and re-apply.

What if I'm outside the United States?

Stripe Connect supports payouts in most countries. If yours isn't supported, email us — we work out a manual payout method. If you're in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, the Partner Data Protection Addendum applies automatically on signup with SCCs-based cross- border transfer mechanisms.

What about taxes?

US partners: we'll collect your W-9 and issue 1099-NEC at year-end for earnings over $600. Non-US partners: W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E. You're responsible for your own local taxes.

What if PostalDataPI is acquired?

The acquirer either continues the program on the same terms or discontinues with a lump-sum buyout equal to 12 months of your trailing average monthly commission. You are protected either way.
